Top-Rated Palma de Mallorca Boat Trips: SailTripMallorca’s Expert Selection

Palma de Mallorca is the undisputed heartbeat of the Mediterranean, but its true beauty isn't found in the bustling streets of the Old Town it’s found looking back at them from the sea.

Sailing out of Palma Bay, the skyline is dominated by the golden sandstone of the La Seu Cathedral, while the coastline transforms into rugged cliffs and secluded, sapphire-blue coves.

Choosing a private boat trip in Palma de Mallorca with a professional captain is the best way to have all the best impressions within a couple hours.

Away from the crowded "party catamarans," a private charter at your own speed in luxury environment where the only schedule is the one set by your own desires. Below we show you our Expert selection for the Best Boat Tours.

Your Duration Options: 3, 4, or 7 Hours?

The Bay of Palma is larger then you would expect and crossing it takes at least an hour by boat, the experience changes significantly depending on how long you choose to stay at sea:

  • 3 Hours: A perfect "City & Sea" express. Ideal for a sunset cruise or a quick snorkeling dip near the Illetas cliffs.

  • 4 Hours: Most popular half-day. This allows you to leave the city far behind and reach the edge of the Marine Reserve.

  • 7 Hours: The gold standard for a Mediterranean summer day. Start off by crossing the bay towards cala Vella and have a remote feeling, later go to the pirate caves in Portals Vells and steer back via the Palma Cathedral with the afternoon light.

⚓ SailTripMallorca’s Best Advice:

We explicitly recommend the 7-hour Full Day Trip.

Why? Because Palma’s best-kept secrets like the pristine Cala Vella, Cap Rocat require time to reach and even more time to truly enjoy.

A full day ensures you aren't rushing back for a docking slot. It allows for a slow-cooked afternoon of swimming, a leisurely lunch on deck, and the chance to sail under the soft, golden light of the late afternoon when the bay is at its most magical and the wind dies down.

The SailTripMallorca "Captain’s Choice" Boat

For the bay of Palma, we approve our Luxury (41ft) 12,5-meter Motor Yacht. It provides the perfect balance of traditional charm and modern Mediterranean comfort.

What’s Included:

  • Professional Captain: A local expert who handles the yacht and navigation while making sure you have the best views and catering on board.

  • Adventure Kit: High-end snorkeling gear and a stable Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) for exploring the shoreline. The boat also features 2 Diving Scooters and some inflatabels.

  • Gourmet Onboard Dining: Freshly prepared Mediterranean tapas, local Iberico ham, artisanal cheeses, and a selection of chilled Spanish wines and cava.

The Route: A Day on the Water (7-Hour Itinerary)

Your SailTripMallorca Approved route is designed to showcase the contrast between historical grandeur and untouched nature:

  1. 10:00 Departure from Club de Mar: We sail past the superyachts and the historic Bellver Castle, getting a unique perspective of the bay of Palma .

  2. 12:00 Cap Rocat & Cala Vella: Our first stop for a morning swim and a coffee. The water here is incredibly clear and turquoise, framed by pine trees and rocky inlets.

  3. 13:30 The Marine Reserve of Palma Bay: We cross the bay toward the protected area of Portalls Vells. This is one of the best boat excursions for snorkeling; the sea life here is protected and thriving. Be sure to check for the small Octopus you can find near the rocks. This is our Lunch break, afterwards you can swim towards the 'pirate caves' or do a cliff jump.

  4. 15:00 Illetes Islands: Our last anchorage. This "small island" is inaccessible by land and is protected for the bird species. We anchor here for a short moment and do paddleboarding and relaxation.

  5. 16:00 Coastal Cruise Home: On the return leg, we hug the coast to see the palace of the King 'Marivent' and the hidden villas of the southwest before heading back to the harbor.

Why Private is Better

In a major busy city like Palma, public boat tours can feel like a conveyor belt.

By choosing a private boat charter in Mallorca, you gain total privacy and the flexibility to change plans.

If you find a pod of dolphins (it happens!) or fall in love with a particular cove, your captain can adjust the route instantly. Having a professional skipper also means you don't have to worry about the busy traffic of Palma’s port or the technicalities of anchoring in a Marine Reserve, you just focus on the horizon.

"We’ve done many boat trips, but the SailTripMallorca experience in Palma was on another level. Seeing the Cathedral from the water as we sailed out was unforgettable. Our captain found us a spot at Cala Vella where the water was so blue it didn't look real. The tapas lunch was fresh and delicious, it was easily the best day of our entire holiday!"
